Separation is a part of religious freedom | Letter

Thank God!

“Civility” in a public forum comes from mutual respect between the parties involved.

How can anyone have respect for someone who owes the county more than $30,000 in fines for violating county law?

Island County Commissioner Kelly Emerson holds the county in contempt and holds the employees of the county in contempt as a result of her actions with regard to her building without permits, and denying access to her property by inspectors.

No amount of prayer will overcome this willful disrespect of our county and its laws. It makes it very difficult to have respect for a body of government with such a person as its leader.

I applaud commissioners Helen Price Johnson and Jill Johnson for realizing that the separation of church and state is at the very heart of our religious freedom.
