A 60-year-old Renton man died from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident on Whidbey Island Saturday afternoon.

The State Patrol reported that Herbert Wood was riding a 2002 BMC Notori motorcycle northbound on South Whidbey’s Highway 525. Just south of Coles Road, Wood tried to pass northbound traffic, but then saw southbound cars coming his way.

Wood lost control when he reentered the northbound lane. The motorcycle fell on its left side.

An ambulance crew transported Wood to Whidbey General Hospital, where he later died.
