An Oak Harbor business sustained damage this morning when an Island Transit bus crashed through the storefront.

During the late morning hours, an Island Transit paratransit bus crashed through the front of a Midway Boulevard hair salon.

Barb Savory, administration and finance manager with Island Transit, said the crash occurred around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. She said the Paratransit bus didn’t have any passengers at the time of the collision and she hasn’t heard of any reports of injuries.

She said the accident is currently being investigated and staff is collecting video footage from the bus’s camera.

She added the driver has been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.

Further updates will be made as information becomes available.
