A massive landlside occurred this morning in the Ledgewood neighborhood south of Coupeville. Neighbors on Fircrest Avenue reported hearing a sound similar to a sonic boom and loud thunder about 4:15 a.m.

The same resident reported large trees that were once seen along the bluff are now gone.

Central Whidbey Island Fire and Rescue is reporting this morning that 17 homes on Driftwood Way are inaccessible and seven homes on Fircrest Avenue were evacuated.

One home on Driftwood Way was reported as "impacted," but reportedly unoccupied.

We will report additional information as it is available.
