March 1, 2013 · Updated 3:03 PM

A three-car accident on North Whidbey snarled traffic late Thursday afternoon, but only one person sustained an injury.

Trooper Mark Francis with the Washington State Patrol said the driver of a Chrysler minivan turned from Jones Road onto State Highway 20 into the path of a northbound four-door sedan at about 4 p.m.

The impact hurled the sedan into the path of a southbound car, which it turn was thrown into a field.

Francis said the driver of the second car experienced minor head and neck pain and was transported to Whidbey General Hospital as a precaution.

The driver of the minivan was cited for failure to yield, according to Francis.
