Naval Hospital Oak Harbor earns seal of approval

Naval Hospital Oak Harbor, at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval by meeting national standards for health care quality and safety.

“We sought accreditation for our organization because we want to demonstrate our commitment to patients’ safety and quality care,” said Capt. Susan Lichtenstein, NHOH commanding officer at the time of the Joint Commission’s unannounced, on-site evaluation in July. “We view obtaining Joint Commission accreditation as another step toward achieving excellence.”

NHOH serves close to 20,000 beneficiaries.

A nonprofit organization founded in 1951, the Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest accrediting body in health care. It seeks to improve the safety and quality of care provided.
