Island County Sheriff lifts burn ban

October 16, 2012 · 3:32 PM

Persistent rain led Island County Sheriff Mark Brown to lift the burn ban today.

The burn ban has been in effect since Aug. 17. Fires less than 4 feet in diameter do not require a burn permit, and outdoor recreational cooking fires in established fire pits are allowed. However, open burning requires a permit by calling 360-391-0392. Burn barrels are illegal in Washington.

Anyone with questions about open burning may call the Island County Fire Warden’s Office at 360-391-0392.
