Sex offender moves to Oak Harbor
August 7, 2012 · Updated 3:43 PM
A 24-year-old man considered to be a Level II sex offender will be living in Oak Harbor.
The Island County Sheriff’s Office released a sex offender public notification last week which states that Christoval Gutierrez will be living on the 1300 block of N. Oak Harbor Street.
As a Level II registered sex offender, Gutierrez is considered a moderate risk of reoffending.
Gutierrez pleaded guilty in Island County Superior Court last September to one count of indecent liberties with forcible compulsion. Gutierrez sexually assaulted a 21-year-old woman, which resulted in a pregnancy. He was acquainted with the victim.
According to court documents, Gutierrez stated that he “did attack her,” but denied the rape allegation. Gutierrez has two additional non-convicted complaints for sexual assaults, according to the sheriff’s office.
Gutierrez is required to attend an outpatient sex offender treatment program for a period of three years. He is currently under the Department of Corrections supervision.
The risk classification is based on his criminal history and other assessments. Gutierrez is required to register with the sheriff’s office in the county of his residence for life, or until relieved by the courts of the duty to do so.
