The Island County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help in identifying a man who may have tried to abduct an 8-year-old girl in Oak Harbor.

At approximately 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, a resident on Hemenway Place in Oak Harbor reported that a male subject approached her 8-year-old daughter in front of their home and told her to get into his car. The girl ran to tell her mother and the subject left.

The suspect is described as a 25- to 35-year-old white male with a short goatee (no mustache) and brown hair with dyed gray streaks. He is approximately 6 feet tall with a medium build, wearing jeans, black flip flops and a black T-shirt with a gray skull on it. The vehicle is described as a dark red, mid-sized newer sedan.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of this subject is asked to contact Lt. Mike Hawley via the ICOM dispatch center at 360-679-9567.
