Republicans to pick presidential favorites

Republicans in Island County will get their chance Saturday to help choose the party’s nominee for president.

The Republican precinct caucus for North Whidbey voters will be held at 10 a.m. March 3 at Oak Harbor High School. Registered voters residing in one of the 40 precincts located on North Whidbey and part of Central Whidbey will convene for a pooled caucus in the Student Union Building at Oak Harbor High School, 1 Wildcat Way, Oak Harbor.

The caucus for South Whidbey Republican voters will be held at the same time in the New Commons Room of South Whidbey High School, 5675 Maxwelton Road, Langley.

The Navy Outlying Field south of Coupeville serves to divide the north and south precincts. Those in precincts on the north side of the outlying field will caucus in Oak Harbor and those south of the field will caucus in Langley.

Non-binding straw polls for president will be held at the precinct level. The process of picking delegates continues at the county convention at Oak Harbor High School March 24.

The Island County Democratic Precinct Caucuses will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 15 at North Whidbey Middle School, Coupeville Middle/High School and South Whidbey High School.
