Police are presently searching for a man who is believed to have broken into a house off Smugglers Cove Road and then assaulted the homeowner.

According to Island County Undersheriff Kelly Mauck, the incident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. on the 200 block of Kolia Place, about one and half miles south of Lagoon Point Road.

Mauck said the homeowner reported finding a man in the house who then assaulted her husband. The man ran out the door and fled north into the woods toward Smuggler's Lagoon Lane, Mauck said.

The suspect is described as a white male of slim build and long reddish hair. He was wearing a blue baseball cap, tan clothing, and is wearing soft-soled shoes. Anyone who sees a person who fits the description is urged to call 911.
