One objects to Oak Harbor board reappointments

Over the objections of one Oak Harbor City Council member, three people have been reappointed to their respective city boards.

During its regular meeting Tuesday, the city council approved Mayor Jim Slowik’s recommendation to give Susan Norman another term on the Library Board, Christon Skinner another term with on the Marina Advisory Committee and Keith Fakkema another term on the Planning Commission.

City Councilman Jim Campbell objected to the reappointments, saying they should not be considered until mayor-elect and Councilman Scott Dudley takes office in January. He was overruled in a 4-1 decision that included council members Bob Severns, Rick Almberg, Jim Palmer and Beth Munns.

Councilman Danny Paggao and Dudley did not vote as they were away on pre-excused absences.
