Whidbey Island Conservation District vote coming

The Whidbey Island Conservation District will hold an election next month for a position on its board of supervisors.

The in-person election will be held Friday, Jan. 13, at the district’s office at 1 NE 4th Street in Coupeville. Polls will be open from 2 to 6 p.m. Registered voters residing on Whidbey Island are eligible to vote.

Mail-in ballots are available but must be requested no later than 4:30 p.m., Jan. 25. Email Sarah Cassatt at sarah@whidbeycd.org or call 678-4708. Ballots must be returned by 6 p.m. Jan. 31.

Filing deadline for the open seat is Jan. 3. Candidates must be registered voters, reside on Whidbey Island and may be required to own land or operate a farm.

A second position will also be open in 2012. The filing deadline for that seat is March 31.
