Island County Commissioner Helen Price Johnson has overtaken challenger Robert "Jeff" Lauderdale in campaign fundraising in their District 1 race for the 2012 election.

Price Johnson, a Democrat, has raised a total of $10,209 through Tuesday, according to reports filed with the Public Disclosure Commission, the state agency that serves as a watchdog on campaign financing.

Lauderdale has raised $9,628 so far.

Lauderdale, a Coupeville Republican, has spent $1,102 on his campaign so far, according to the PDC. Price Johnson, a Democrat from Clinton and the first woman ever elected to the county board of commissioners, has spent $138 on her campaign so far.

Price Johnson started fundraising nearly two months after Lauderdale, but trailed in donations until mid-October, according to fundraising reports provided to the state.
