SVC seeks diversity award nominations

Skagit Valley College is seeking nominations of 9th through 12th grade students who have contributed to diversity on their campuses and in their communities.
The students will be honored at the Champions of Diversity Awards ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 30 in McIntyre Hall, located at SVC’s Mount Vernon Campus.
Nominated seniors will also be considered for scholarships. Over $167,000 in scholarships was awarded last year.
Nominees are often students who: exercise significant responsibility in a family, a community, employment, or through activities; demonstrate a commitment to community service and leadership; first generation college students; and working to attain a college preparatory education in the face of significant personal adversity, economic disadvantage, or disability.
Nomination forms are available online at www.skagit.edu/champions. Submission deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14.
