Coupeville airs coming school cuts
April 19, 2011 · 2:38 PM
Coupeville School District Superintendent Patty Page has scheduled a public meeting to share information with the community about the 2010-11 and 2011-12 district budgets.
“The state Legislature is still discussing changes that could further reduce funding for this year,” Page said, “and the known changes for next year will have a huge impact.”
School officials announced in March that the district will need to cut about $1,348,000 from next year’s budget. The district has asked staff to restrict spending for the remainder of this year to help offset known and anticipated funding reductions.
Informational meetings, with time for questions and answers, are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21 and Thursday, May 26 in the Coupeville Elementary School library. The public also is welcome to attend regular board meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the second and third Mondays of each month at the same location.
