A jackknifed semi truck blocked both lanes of Highway 20 near Coupeville for about a half hour Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 1 p.m., the truck was southbound on Highway 20 driving past Coupeville when the driver tried to make a U-turn at the intersection with Willard Road, said Island County Sheriff's Deputy Scott Fortin.
The truck got stuck in a small ditch, effectively blocking the north and south lanes of the highway.
A front loader from the nearby garbage transfer station was brought in to pull the truck from the ditch. The semi finally able to turn around and sped away north.
Both lanes of Highway 20 were open by 1:30 p.m.
