Freeland subarea planning continues
January 21, 2011 · Updated 1:20 PM
On Thursday, Feb. 3, the Island County Planning Commission will hold a second public hearing on the updated Freeland Subarea Plan.
The public hearing will be held in the Trinity Lutheran Church gymnasium in, Freeland, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The community is encouraged to review the updated plan prior to the meeting. A copy of the updated Freeland Subarea Plan is available on the county’s website, in hard-copy format from the planning department in the Island County Annex building in Coupeville, or the Freeland Library.
The upcoming meeting will give the community an opportunity to provide the planning commission with feedback on the updated plan.
The Freeland Subarea Plan is being updated to comply with the Growth Management Act requirements for subarea planning. The 2010 Freeland Subarea Plan now includes elements to address land use, natural lands, civic and open space, capital facilities, utilities, transportation, economic development and housing.
The updated plan will set goals, principles and policies which will guide the creation of development regulations specific to Freeland.
