Higher fares kick in Jan. 1 on state ferries

Washington State Ferries will begin 2011 with a fare increase. A 2.5 percent fare hike will go into effect on all routes on Jan. 1.

Generally, new fares for the Coupeville to Port Townsend route will be: Vehicle and driver, under 20-feet, $9.35; multi-ride (20 ride) $149.60; passenger fares, adult $2.75, senior (65 and older) or disabled $1.35; youth (6 to 18 years) $2.20, commuter, multi-ride (10 ride) $44, monthly pass $70.40.

Generally, new fares for the Clinton to Mukilteo route will be: Vehicle and driver full fare, under 20-feet, $7.20; multi-ride (20 ride) $115.20; passenger fares, adult, $4.20; senior or disabled, $2.10; youth, $3.40; commuter, multi-ride (10 ride) $33.60, monthly pass $53.80.
