Driver injured after crashing into tree

A Clinton resident was transported to Whidbey General Hospital Friday morning after her car struck a tree along State Highway 20 near Libbey Road.
At approximately 9:20 a.m., 30-year-old Clinton resident Piper Travis was driving a 1991 Toyota Corolla north on Highway 20. She was reportedly going down a hill heading toward the Libbey Road intersection on Central Whidbey.

It was approximately 25 years ago, while I was working for the Whidbey News-Times as a reporter, that Rick Schulte came to Oak Harbor schools as assistant superintendent.
That was in 1987. I had just graduated from Western Washington University and started my job at the newspaper late that summer.

Firefighters responded to a call of a home ablaze on Williams Road located off Hastie Lake Road southwest of Oak Harbor.

Suspected DUI crash sends one to hospital

A Coupeville man was sent to the hospital for injuries he sustained in a one-car accident on Highway 20 late Wednesday evening.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the accident took place at about 9 p.m. just west of Sherman Road. Jon Vidoni, 63, was southbound in a 2000 Ford Econoline van and passing the cow crater on the south side of the highway when he lost control and drove off the embankment.
