From my review of the North Whidbey Park and Recreation District’s annual budget on their website, it appears the aquatic club and running club members have been subsidized hundreds of dollars per member yearly from the annual property levy.
Apparently some of the club members are from Coupeville and areas of Island County not subject to the park district levy.

I didn’t want to write this, but as you can see I just couldn’t take it anymore. What a waist of our money. Really!
I’m talking about the two digital speed limit signs on Loerland Lane. The speed limit is 30 until you come up the hill going toward Swantown then it slows to 25, and the other one coming off Swantown on to Loerland. All 25! What is that supposed to mean?

Let me see if I can get my impression of how you are going to handle this school levy issue fairly.
If I am for the levy and send you a letter — whammo — published, bronzed and the parade begins.
If I send in a letter with facts and figures I would like justified before forming an opinion — whammo — in the trash bin.
Two charged in Coupeville bowling burglary

Two Oak Harbor residents were charged in the Memorial Day burglary of Ebey Bowl in Coupeville.
Prosecutors charged 34-year-old Jason M. Bowen in Island County Superior Court Oct. 18 with burglary in the second degree and theft in the second degree. He pleaded not guilty Oct. 18. Jasmine Seaward, 23, was charged Oct. 19 with burglary in the second degree and theft in the second degree. Her bail was set at $10,000 Nov. 5.
Oak Harbor School Board to meet with area representatives

With the election over, school leaders on North Whidbey are looking to meet and talk with their new legislators.
The Oak Harbor School Board in early December will meet with local state representatives representing Whidbey Island to advocate several issues that could improve school district finances.

Leaders from Oak Harbor School District will attend an upcoming Oak Harbor City Council meeting to seek endorsement for the February 2013 levy.
The meeting is 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4 at city hall located at 865 SE Barrington Drive.
Penny Holland shares her children’s book at two book signings, dino parties

Hugging stuffed animals and wearing their pajamas, a class of kindergarten students at Olympic View Elementary School got a taste of Penny Holland’s newly released picture book, “The Adoption of Boris.”
As a fun addition to pajama day, Holland read the book aloud to Susie Stockfeld Hume’s class and even wore her bathrobe.

The Anacortes High School boys basketball team returns a handful of regulars from last season’s state tournament squad and expects to make a deep run in this winter’s playoffs.
Oak Harbor won’t dispute that claim as the Seahawks buried the visiting Wildcats 81-50 Tuesday, Nov. 27, in the season opener for both schools.
