At the meeting last Wednesday, the council members approved a motion that directs staff members to prepare an amendment to the city’s employee policy manual to limit the mayor’s ability to appoint interim employees in administrative or department-head positions, such as the city administrator, fire chief and police chief.
Oak Harbor man jailed after allegedly hitting cop
Nov 13 2012, 2:19 PM A 38-year-old Oak Harbor man is accused of assaulting a deputy during a roadside fight in North Whidbey, according to court documents. Prosecutors charged Jeremy R. Suttles in Island County Superior Court Oct. 12 with assault in the third degree, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Oak Harbor man sentenced for punching sister
Nov 13 2012, 2:20 PM An 18-year-old Oak Harbor man, who punched his sister in the face and knocked out her tooth, was sent to jail. Michael A. Steen pleaded guilty in Island County Superior Court Oct. 29 to third-degree assault, a domestic-violence crime. The judge agreed with the plea-bargained sentencing recommendation and sent him to jail for four months.
