October 3, 2012 · Updated 8:36 AM
On Sept. 19, 1952 Airman Apprentice Melvin D. Beck, U.S. Navy, married Helen (Cromar) Beck in Sunnyside, Wash. They moved about the country to where their Navy assignments sent them.
Their son, Robert, was born in Seattle; Dona in Corpus Christie, Texas; Michael in Honolulu, Hawaii; and Jeffrey in Chula Vista, Calif. In 1964, the family moved to Whidbey Island where Melvin served with multiple duty assignments until his retirement in October 1982.
Cmdr. Melvin D. Beck, Ret., and Helen still reside in their home on Crescent Harbor Road. The family is planning a private celebration at the couple’s home.
