Free seeds available for pumpkin contest
March 18, 2011 · Updated 12:34 PM
Plans are underway for the 16th annual Whidbey Island Giant Pumpkin Contest to be held this October at Coupeville’s HarvestFest.
Thanks to a generous grant from the Coupeville Festival Association, free giant pumpkin seeds will be sent to any Whidbey Islander wishing to grow a giant pumpkin this year.
The contest will feature prizes for the biggest, ugliest and prettiest giant pumpkins as well as several other fun prizes, so everyone has a chance of winning. There will also be a giant zucchini contest.
Last year’s winners were from up and down the Island.
This is a truly fun family event, even kids can join in the fun of growing big pumpkins and there is no charge to compete or enter. To get your free seeds, contact Lee Roof at 675-5687 or 877-678-4440.
