Tyrannical history is important to remember

Editor,

We must remember our history or we are doomed to repeat it.

In the early days of WWII there was a song we all sang in solidarity, “Let’s Remember Pearl Harbor as we did the Alamo.”

I say, let’s not forget when and how Castro came into power, and let’s not forget when and how Hitler came into power: how Mussolini, Saddam Hussein and how all the tyrants and dictators of the world managed to become so powerful and were able to force their own agendas on the citizens.

Don’t be fooled by the words that come out of their mouths — watch what they do and how systematically they chip away at your freedoms. Can it happen again?

Can it happen here and now? Will it happen?
