Thankful for homeless count volunteers

Thank you volunteers and community supporters.

Since 2006, Island County and partner agencies have participated in implementing the annual Homeless Point In Time Count.

Each year, planning and implementation require significant amounts of collaboration, time and effort. In 2015, we added outreach teams to the countywide strategy and every year we invite community members to volunteer to assist in some capacity with this important day.

The connections that are made with those struggling with homelessness along with the information gathered from the survey are extremely important.

Current sleeping location, length of homelessness, number people in household and overall health status provides our county commissioners, partner agencies and community members with important information as we continue to fine tune our systems of housing and care.

This event could not be done without our over 100 volunteers and donors. There is not enough space to thank everyone by name, but you know who you are and we want to thank you for your service to those less fortunate and our service community.

Jackie Henderson, Director,

Island County Department of Human Services
