Stand up for Science on April 22 in Coupeville

Editor,

Time to take a stand for truth and reality. Can we really base our decisions on alternative — ie. false — facts and fake news? Is that wise?

Is putting tape over the “check engine” light a really a good idea? The Trump Administration and other decision makers would like us to believe that facts don’t matter.

That all that matters is what they tell us. They are muzzling the scientists at NOAA, the EPA and other agencies, which produce evidence they don’t like.

Scott Pruitt the anti-EPA, EPA administrator denies global warming, the dangers of asbestos and other toxins and pollutants that have known consequences but impair his rich friends who consider profit more important than people.

Do we really feel we can ignore reality indefinitely? If you agree we should base decisions on solid evidence, and not on political spin, then we invite you to Stand up For Science at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22 at Lion’s Park in Coupeville.

We’ll hear why science matters from a variety of folks on a variety of pertinent issues to our community.

So come out and Stand for Science, integrity and responsible behavior. Be part of over 500 events happening on Earth Day.
