Response from miniature horse article is amazing

Editor,

Thank you so much for running the initial article on the miniature horses. We had over 30 people call us from around the state.

The Whidbey Island Animal Assistance Program wanted you to know that the owners have selected a new family for the horses, and they are working out the details now. The new family lives on the north end of the island, has children and is building a new barn for them.

WIFAAP has been amazed at the outpouring of support for the miniature horses. There have been many qualified applicants and it was definitely difficult for the owners to select.

WIFAAP would especially like to thank Jenny Rector and her daughter Crimson for all the hours they have donated to the owners, helping them feed and care for the horses daily. We appreciate their love of horses, and their love of volunteering.

If anybody would like to donate to WIFAAP, which is a non-profit 501c3 corporation, they can mail a check to:

We also take “credit donations” through Skagit Farm Supply at 31686 SR 20, Oak Harbor or Metcalf Hay and Feed at 3063 N. Oak Harbor Road. They can place any dollar amount on our account to help pay for feed and other necessities. We currently still have Big Boy in foster care, so the money donated to either feed store helps pay for his care to include hay, grain and especially horsey-treats.

And lastly, if anybody is interested in donating their time and/or expertise to helping farm animals on Whidbey Island, we are always adding to our volunteer list. We’re looking for everything from grooming and feeding to hauling and fence repairs. Interested parties can contact Carol Barnes at 360-240-5542 and ask for a volunteer application.
