Parks district an important part of North Whidbey

Editor,

Please know how very important our North Whidbey Parks and Rec District is to the entire north end of Whidbey Island.

It provides benefit to all ages — from infants to seniors.

The parks are open for playing, picnicking, sports — both organized and not — and having fun with your pets. There’s even a dog park!

Our pool provides a chance for children — and adults — to learn to swim. There’s also opportunity to learn life-saving techniques. All adults can participate in aerobic exercise, water volleyball, water walking and lap swimming. Open swim times give both children and adults a chance to get together to enjoy a fun and refreshing dip.

Those from before had the foresight to set aside beautiful places for our parks. They also funded their beginnings. The same can be said for our wonderful pool. Let us retain these opportunities for ourselves, our children and grandchildren.

Please vote “Yes” on the district’s operation and maintenance levy Aug. 1. It merely continues, with no increase, the small levy of 17 cents per thousand dollars of assessed valuation.
