‘Outrageous’ is a bit of an overstatement

Editor,

In response to the Coupeville writer’s comment in the Nov. 25 Whidbey News-Times who was not “amused” by the pilot’s artwork, I say lighten up a little.

Was the action in good taste, no, but to call it “appalling” and “outrageous” you’d have thought the pilot had just flown under the Deception Pass Bridge. I find her comments “appalling.” The maneuver in itself was quite skillful and might even come in handy when avoiding a ground-to-air missile.

I do agree that the pilot should have given his act a little forethought and consider what ramifications it might generate. But “outrageous?” Not even close. Go Navy … we love you.
