Maybe it’s time for fire commission to change

Editor,

The North Whidbey Fire and Rescue fire commissioners have already voted to put their levy on the November ballot if it fails in August.

This is a department that says they need more money to operate, yet they waste several thousand dollars to put the levy on an August ballot, then if it fails they will spend several thousand more to put it on the November ballot so the voters can say NO once again.

How irresponsible is that. We have the opportunity to select one of four candidates running for fire commissioner. Two of these candidates — Larry Wall and Bruce Carman — have a proven record of voting to spend money for whatever the chief requests.

They do this knowing they will have to ask the public for more money over and above what they are currently receiving in taxes. They already vote to increase your taxes 1 percent every year and they say that isn’t enough. Maybe it’s time to make a change. Let’s pick a candidate that isn’t going to waste our hard earned money.
