Letter: Woman who stole money didn’t offer true remorse

Editor,

It appears embezzling pays pretty good , if you only have to do 17 months for stealing over a quarter of a million dollars — and she probably won’t even serve all of that.

I am sorry, I don’t believe her apology is sincere or, for that matter, enough. All of the lives she impacted and the damage she has done, and she would still be doing if she hadn’t been caught, and her excuse is substance abuse, and saying she is going to pay it back.

Please.

Reminds me of the woman who stole $145,000 from the Rolling Hills water company. She got a slap on the wrist as well. If you want to stop this crime give them serious time. It seems the more you steal the less responsibility you have to take.

Where is the lesson there?
