Letter: We need to keep an eye on, challenge elected officials

Editor,

Robert D. Brown’s letter on June 15 was clearly to the point regarding government management. We all need to pay more attention and challenge our elected officials — in a civil way — when things seem to be going astray.

His final comment about Fort Nugent Avenue is the first I’ve seen in the News-Times. Amen, brother.

Three mayors ago they handed shovels to a bunch of fifth grade boys; gave them a pile of hot asphalt and said, “have fun.”

The so-called Fort Nugent Avenue repairs are worse than a joke. My teeth rattle several times each day as I traverse the congealed rubble posing as road repairs.

What government agency will take responsibility for this incredible waste of taxpayer money and actually fix the problem?
