Letter: There were other qualified candidates

Editor,

A Supreme Court appointment is a lifetime appointment. To rush through any candidate is wrong.

Why was the GOP trying to rush through candidate Brett Kavanaugh? He would not answer any questions that could have shown us who he is now, and looked very uncomfortable several times during his hearing.

His writings were so slow in coming to the committee, that they did not see the most consequential ones.

And then there was an allegation of sexual misconduct.

With the holding back of Brett Kavanaugh’s writings, apparent lies in the past to Congress, and now this accusation, it seemed best to pass on Kavanaugh. I’m sure there were many judges to choose from, Merrick Garland, for one, who does not have this baggage and self-serving extreme interpretation of the Constitution.
