Letter: Paper’s editorial about FOI states what needed said

Editor,

Thanks so much for putting in print what needed to be said, what people need to be reminded of…that in the discourse around the presence of the Growlers on Whidbey, at OLF Coupeville specifically, respect for other’s opinions and views is a must, together with a level of civility that allows for all voices to be heard.

Abusive and insulting language pointed at those who think and feel differently is unnecessary and disrespectful. I’ve heard tell of people’s homes being shot at by passing cars/trucks.

Windshields that have been smashed because of a bumper-sticker or poster board sign that expresses an opinion different than one’s own. Hopefully we will see none of that in the coming weeks and months. It’s known that conflicting views exist. Let’s agree to disagree and keep our hands — and middle finger salutes — to ourselves.

No one should feel threatened or unsafe.
