Letter: Habitat for Humanity is grateful for supporters

Editor,

Thank you to our supporters. It has never been more important than today to talk about the need of affordable housing in Island County.

Habitat for Humanity of Island County is celebrating its 20th year in providing affordable homes to deserving families. With over 50 families served in our county, I wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude.

There are many things that need to take place to get a home built for a family, but my focus for this conversation is our supporters.

Our supporters come in many fashions: volunteers, board members, advocates, members of our community that shop at our stores and donors.

Volunteers in both our stores and on the job site do amazing work and always wear a smile.

Board members volunteer their time and expertise to ensure the proper path for success.

Community members who shop at our stores help ensure funds go towards building affordable homes in our county.

Advocates spread the word to people about what we do and the need for why we do it.

Donors who give their gently used furniture, building materials and money offer a direct path to continue our continued vision where “Everyone deserves a decent place to live.”

As I visit the stores and our job sites, I get to personally thank the wonderful people that help. But for those of you who wish to give and remain anonymous, I don’t have the opportunity to send my thanks; so on behalf of everyone at Habitat for Humanity of Island County, I want to say thank you.
