Community spirit is built in many ways.

Last Friday night, at South Whidbey High School, the Oak Harbor bands, under the masterful direction of Brandon Nelson and Andy Judd, built community music with their counterpart, South Whidbey bands.

Thanks to the parents, grandparents and fans of the Oak Harbor jazz ensembles who made a rainy round trip to Langley to enjoy the 18th annual Whidbey Jazz Festival.

It was wonderful to see and hear all of our island zip codes tapping together in unison, showcasing a full sense of community spirit on Whidbey.

If you enjoy community spirit, hearing our really talented young musicians and if you support their college scholarships, please remember the 19th concert, which is next spring in Oak Harbor. Hope to see you there.
