Letter: EIS comment period is way to make voices heard

Editor,

The public comment within the federal arena is one of the methods that the agencies in the federal government use to reach a decision on what should be done or path to take.

How to make your voice and thoughts heard when making a comment, oral or written, is very important.

It is anticipated that there will be many comments concerning the OLF, the EIS or the testing of well water. If you want your comment to make an impact, keep your comment logical and within the scope of what is being discussed. Ensure that your comment is factual or based on known and relevant facts and not something that is not based on fact.

The use of accusatory language or speaking in a loud, yelling voice will render your comment useless. It is important to refrain from pointing fingers or using colorful language if you would like your comment to be heard.

The comment period is one way that the voice of the people can be heard.

Effective comments can make a difference.
