"A circus with a difference is headed for Oak Harbor.Circus Chimera is big top entertainment without trained animal acts, but with all the flash and fun of trapeze artists, jugglers, balancing acts and and clowns. It's a circus that's orchestrated like a stage show, says Bill Cornell, president of the Kiwanis Clubs of Oak Harbor and Coupeville. The Oak Harbor Kiwanis have a tradition of bringing a circus to town every second year, as family entertainment and to to raise money for community causes. This will be the only circus on the island this year, Cornell said. Billed as the circus of the future, Circus Chimera presents The Toy Box, a two-hour show where toys come to life, as motorcycle daredevils, flying mermaids, performers on the double wheel of destiny and more. The story-teller is Guennadi Tregoub, a clown from the Moscow Circus. Xiao Hong Wu, of China stars as the Queen Doll. Ticket sales raise money for Kiwanis Club projects. The club gets a larger percentage of the sales of advance tickets, and tickets bought ahead of time are also cheaper, Cornell said.
