The Melody Lingers On

"Auditions for the Irving Berlin musical revue, The Melody Lingers On, will be held at the Whidbey Playhouse Monday and Tuesday, Aug, 14 and 15, at 7 p.m. The show has parts for five adult men and five adult women, with all voice ranges. Auditioners should come prepared with an Irving Berlin song to sing. The show is taken from the book, Irving Berlin: a Daughter's Memoir, by Mary Ellin Barrett, the musical revue will feature 44 of Berlin's songs - from Alexander's Ragtime Band, to There's No Business Like Show Business, to God Bless America. The songs tell the story of the past American century. Rehearsals for the musical revue will run through the later part of August, September and October in preparation for a four-week run beginning Nov. 3.
