Whidbey Playhouse calleth for actors

The Whidbey Playhouse announces auditions for “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by William Shakespeare, directed by Stephen James Anderson.

Auditions will be by appointment only Saturday, Dec. 8 and Sunday, Dec. 9 in 10-minute time slots starting at 10 a.m.

Callbacks will follow on Monday, Dec. 10.

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is an adventurous romp of lovers, madmen and fairies that proves “The course of true love never did run smooth.” Love is in the air and mischief is in the forest in one of Shakespeare’s most iconic plays.

Actors are asked to prepare a 60-second Shakespearean verse monologue, preferably not from “A Midsummer’s Night Dream.” Actors will be considered for all roles.

Please bring a head shot or face shot and your theatrical resume. There will be an audition questionnaire so please allow time prior to your audition to complete the form.

Scripts can be checked out from the Playhouse box office.

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” opens Friday, April 26, 2013.

Tickets go on sale March 26, 2013, with special offers for military members and groups of 10 or more.

Set up an audition appointment by contacting the Whidbey Playhouse box office at 679-2237. The Playhouse is located at 730 SE Midway Blvd. in Oak Harbor.
