Sea shanty singer Tom Lewis will be performing with the Shifty Sailors at 7:30 p.m. Friday Sept. 7, in the Coupeville High School Performing Arts Center before heading across the water to be part of Port Townsend’s 36th annual Wooden Boat Festival.

Not only is Lewis known for his expansive knowledge of seafaring songs and lore, he is a gifted composer whose music is sung all over the world.

He will sing many of his own creations and will be accompanied on several by the Shifty Sailors.

Tickets may be purchased in Oak Harbor at Bayleaf and Wind & Tide Books, or in Coupeville at Bayleaf and Local Grown for $10. Children will be admitted free. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Having performed extensively the past four months, this will be the Shifty Sailors’ final island performance for summer 2012. The Shifties, however, will be performing off-island at the Fall Fishermen’s Festival at noon Saturday, Sept. 22, at Ballard’s Fisherman’s Terminal.

For more information, call Vern Olsen at 678-5019.
