Writers get discount to sign up early

Early bird registrations at special savings are available through January 15 for the 2012 Whidbey Island Writers Conference to be held in Langley, March 3 and 4.

The early registration for the two days is $200 for members of the Whidbey Island Writers Association and $250 for non-members. Prices go up after Jan. 15.

The 2012 conference provides an opportunity to mix and mingle with aspiring writers, accomplished professionals and agents and editors. The Whidbey Island Writers Conference includes informative workshops, intimate chat houses and the inside scoop on becoming a published writer.

The keynote speaker for the opening session will be David Handschuh who will be talking about, “Change, Survival and Reflection: One Photojournalist’s Transformation into a Travel Writer.”

A broad range of successful writers will be available for chats and workshops over the weekend, and consults may be arranged with agents and editors.

For those who have paid for the conference, there are several options for pre-conference activities on Friday, March 2, including manuscript critiques, a three-hour workshop by Elizabeth Lyon on fiction and memoir writing and dinner with the presenters.
