The newly formed, Coupeville-based Penn Cove Productions is teaming up with WAIF for a unique live onstage radio variety show fundraiser.
“Postcards from Whidbey Island” is a monthly Whidbey based music and variety show similar in style to Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion. The Christmas performance will be at the “heated” historic red Crockett Barn, Fort Casey Road, Coupeville. The dates are Saturday Dec. 18, 4 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 19, 2 p.m.
It’s the season of goodwill. It’s also a reminder of the sacredness of humanity, a good time to remember the least among us including animals at risk, organizers say. Partial proceeds of this event will go to the development of the new WAIF shelter in Coupeville.
On Saturday, the Bluegrass band Cranberry Bog will play and, on Sunday, the Eclectic Folk Music of Bayview Sound will also be featured.
Postcards from Whidbey Island is a monthly program produced by Penn Cove Productions. They are donating a share of this programs proceeds to WAIF. Other nonprofit groups that Penn Cove Productions have raised money for include performances for KWPA public radio and Ebey’s Landing Historic Reserve.
Tickets are available at both WAIF retail stores; in Coupeville at Local Grown, Bayleaf and Lind’s Drugs; in Oak Harbor at Bayleaf; Freeland at Bookbay and in Langley at Moonraker Books. Seating is limited to 200 people per show and tickets will be available at the door if not already sold out.
