Whidbey Island artists earn grant dollars

Four Whidbey Island residents were recently awarded $500 grants from the Whidbey Island Arts Council. The four winners of the WIAC Artist Grants are Freeland resident Debra Calkins for fiber arts; Oak Harbor resident Dan Ishler for ceramics; Langley resident Gary Shallock for watercolor and Langley resident Anne Smidt.

The four grants are awarded annually by the WIAC to island residents working in the visual and performing arts.
