The new production of “Chicago” at Whidbey Playhouse in Oak Harbor has everything that makes Broadway great: a universal tale of fame, fortune, and all that jazz; one show-stopping-song after another; and the most astonishing dancing you’ve ever seen.

A special benefit performance for Soroptimist International of Coupeville will be held Thursday, Sept. 9, beginning with a Sweet and Savory Hors d ‘oeuvre reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by the performance at 7:30.

Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at Wind and Tide Bookstore in Oak Harbor; Branch Business Services in Coupeville; at Whidbey Island Bank, Coupeville; or call 678-3167.

The proceeds from this performance will support the Women’s Opportunity Award, a project to assist women entering or re-entering the workforce in obtaining the education and skills training they need to improve their employment status. Additional proceeds will provide local youth with supplies for returning to school. For more information on Soroptimist International, visit www.soroptimistinternational.org.

“Chicago” opens the 44th season at the Whidbey Playhouse. Call the box office at 679-2237 for further information or visit www.whidbeyplayhouse.com.
