Whidbey Island Orchestras is pleased to announce its 2010-2011 concert season. Its two orchestras, Whidbey Island Youth Orchestra and Whidbey Island Community Orchestra, welcome back returning members and invite new members.

The community orchestra is especially seeking wind players this season.

The youth orchestra, an all-string orchestra ages 8 to 21, will hold auditions and registration for new members on Thursday, Sept. 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Whidbey Evangelical Free Church in Greenbank.

Returning youth orchestra members will audition at the church on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. to noon. Contact Sheri Kelly to schedule an audition at 360-341-3130 or email james.kelly@juno.com

Both orchestras begin rehearsals on Thursday, Sept. 16 at the church and subsequent rehearsals occur every Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Concerts will be held in the fall, winter and spring and a holiday concert is still in the planning stages.
