Whidbey General Hospital Foundation awarded two $1,000 scholarships in early June from the Amy Ayers Scholarship Fund. The scholarship fund honors the service of Amy Ayers, former Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nurse Executive of Whidbey General Hospital.

Jeannie Alfaro is a Critical Care Unit nurse who is pursuing a Masters of Science in Nursing through the University of Phoenix.

Jay Lujan is currently a clerk in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. He has been accepted for the Radiologic Technologist program through the PIMA Medical Institute.

“The Foundation is proud to administer this scholarship fund,” said Executive Director Laura Blankenship. “It gives us an opportunity to recognize outstanding individuals whose ongoing pursuit of knowledge benefits our hospital and our community.”
