Island kids camp near Mt. Rainier

Young people from Island County will be able to attend summer camp at Camp Arnold near Mt. Rainier this June. This opportunity is made available each year as part of the Salvation Army’s Service Extension Department and their partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Island County. Youth ages 8 to 12 will be grouped together, and youth 13 to 16 will participate in a separate camping experience.

Camp Arnold is a 600-acre site with Mount Rainier as a backdrop. Features include a swimming pool, male and female cabins, a large dining hall, arts and crafts center, archery, volleyball, baseball field, gymnasium and trails for hiking.

This year’s camp is June 22 through 26.

Application packages may be picked up at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Island County at 913 E. Whidbey Ave. in Oak Harbor, or at the South Whidbey Big Brothers Big Sisters office located in the South Whidbey High School counseling office. Scholarships are based upon family income. There is a $15 non-refundable application fee per child application, with a maximum fee of $25 per family.
