Why not be your dog’s best friend and take her or him out to the 4th annual “FETCH! Walkabout Wine Tasting Event” on Saturday, Aug. 9, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Buchanan’s Vineyard in Bayview on South Whidbey.
You and your dog may get acquainted with FETCH! (Free Exercise Time for Canines & Humans!). They’re the organization that maintains five off-leash parks on Whidbey Island and promotes responsible off-leash play time for dogs and humans. The Walkout Wine Tasting Event is the organization’s main fundraiser each year.
Humans attending the Walkabout can sample five luscious wines from Australia, South Africa, and California, and nibble on gourmet chocolate, chesses, bread, and fruit, all while being serenaded with live bluegrass music performed by the Dog Gones: Steve Showell and Joanne Rouse. Canine guests can look forward to gourmet dog treats, lots of fresh water, and sniffing noses with lots of other dogs.
Patricia Buchanan, founder of FETCH!, invites islanders and off-islander alike to the event. “It’s definitely do-able to come out to Whidbey Island for the day. Lots of people like to come to the event and make a weekend of it,” she said.
Tickets for the event are $20 in advance or $25 at the gate. Advance tickets can be purchased at The Open Door Gallery at the Bayview Cash Store, Chef’s Pantry in Langley, Vino d’Amoré in Freeland, and the Bayleaf in Coupeville and Oak Harbor.
